Cricket-Buttler retained by IPL franchise Williamson and Finch released 2022

Jos Buttler, the captain of England that won the T20 World Cup, and a number of his teammates have been retained by their Indian Premier League (IPL) teams, but Aaron Finch, the captain of Australia, and Kane Williamson, the captain of New Zealand, have been released.

Prior to the Dec. 23 IPL player auction, the inaugural winners and runners-up Rajasthan Royals kept Buttler.

Among his countrymen, all-rounder Moeen Ali was kept by the four-time winners Chennai Super Kings, paceman Mark Wood will keep playing for Lucknow Super Giants, and all-rounder Liam Livingstone will once more wear the Punjab Kings uniform.

In addition to keeping Jonny Bairstow, Punjab also released Williamson and terminated relations with Australia’s 20-overs captain Finch. Bairstow missed the T20 World Cup due to a strange golf injury.

Pat Cummins, the captain of Australia’s test team, and Alex Hales and Sam Billings, two English players who were recruited by Kolkata, have chosen not to participate in the IPL in 2019 due to national obligations.

Jofra Archer, an English speedster who hasn’t played competitive cricket since July 2021 due to a back stress fracture, was kept by the five-time champion Mumbai Indians.

After 13 seasons, Kieron Pollard was sacked by Mumbai, who placed last in the 10-team league the previous year. However, the West Indies legend was promptly hired as their batting instructor.

Despite David Warner’s subpar T20 performance, Delhi Capitals kept him.
