T20 World Cup Netherlands beat Zimbabwe

Netherlands beat Zimbabwe: Zimbabwe has been eliminated from the Men’s T20 World Cup after a five-wicket loss to the Netherlands in Adelaide.
As the Dutch chased down their target of 118 with 12 balls to spare, Max O’Dowd hit a composed 52 from 46 balls.
Earlier, despite Sikandar Raza’s 24-ball 40, Paul van Meekeren took 3-29 to help Zimbabwe be dismissed for 117.
Zimbabwe must achieve an extraordinary set of results to advance to the semi-finals, including a convincing victory over India in their final Group 2 game.
Other games would have to be tied or washed out as well.
The Netherlands, who had already been eliminated, wins their first Super 12s stage victory, but it is insufficient to lift them off the bottom.

Netherlands coast to first win

Zimbabwe, who had never reached an ICC tournament semi-final before, knew they needed to win to keep their last four hopes alive.

However, after winning the toss and electing to bat under cloudy skies, they limped to a 20-3 powerplay lead and never recovered.

Raza’s fine tournament continued with a punchy counter-attack, hitting three fours and three sixes, while Sean Williams added 28 from 23 deliveries.

However, Williams’ dismissal precipitated a collapse, with the final six wickets falling for 49 runs and no other player scoring in double figures.

The Netherlands lost Stephan Myburgh for eight early in their reply, but O’Dowd and Tom Cooper combined for 73 to put them in command.
