Elon Musk announces plan to buy Manchester United 2022
Elon Musk has said that he plans to buy Manchester United Football Club.
The billionaire tech entrepreneur flagged the purchase in a short tweet on Tuesday, though it’s unclear if his statement was meant as a joke.
Musk, 51, tweeted to his 103 million followers: “Clearly, I support the left half of the Republican Party and the right half of the Democratic Party!
He added: “Also, I’m buying Manchester United your welcome.”
The post immediately gained a lot of attention, receiving nearly 40,000 retweets and over 200,000 likes within hours.
It comes after the Tesla founder’s ongoing lawsuit with Twitter after he backed a $44 billion (£36.3 billion) deal to buy the social media platform.
Last week it was revealed that Musk had sold about US$7 billion (£5.8 billion) worth of Tesla shares ahead of the legal battle in October.
