Fantasy Football Managers will have a keen eye on team news ahead of Saturday’s FPL deadline at 11am BST, and this week’s midweek fixtures on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday are something to look out for. This may mean managers start rotating their line-ups as the fixtures start coming thick and fast. Here we take a look at the key team news from the pre-match press conferences and line-up predictions to help make our Fantasy Premier League decisions.
Fixture: Southampton v Manchester United, Saturday 27 August, 12.30 pm
Man United team news: Casemiro could make his Premier League debut following his arrival from Real Madrid, although the defensive midfielder is unlikely to be much of an FPL asset. Erik ten Hague is likely to stay with the team that responded to his instructions with a better performance against Liverpool. Harry Maguire, Luke Shaw, and Cristiano Ronaldo should remain on the bench, while Anthony Martial could start alongside Marcus Rashford and Jaden Sancho after recovering from injury.
Man United predicted line-up: De Gea; Dalut, Varane, Martinez, Malaysia; Casemiro, Eriksson, Fernandes; Sancho, Martial, Rashford
Fact: Liverpool v Bournemouth, Saturday, August 27, 3 pm
Liverpool team news: Injuries, form, and suspension could see Jurgen Klopp make changes after Monday’s disappointing defeat at Manchester United, but the Liverpool manager is also short of options. Diego Jota, Thiago Alcantara, Joel Matip, and Ibrahim Konate are injured, Naby Keita is a doubt due to illness, while Darwin Nunes is serving the second of a three-match ban. Fabinho should replace James Milner in midfield while Fabio Carvalho was brilliant at Old Trafford and could again work from the bench.
Liverpool’s predicted line-up: Allison; Alexander-Arnold, Gomes, van Dijk, Robertson; Fabinho, Henderson, Elliott; Salah, Firmino, Diaz
Fact: Manchester City v Crystal Palace, Saturday 27 August, 3 pm
Man City team news: The Premier League champions face Barcelona in a friendly on Wednesday night, with the most available first-team players running out at the Nou Camp. Jack Grealish did not feature after missing the trip to Newcastle, nor did Nathan Ake after picking up a back injury during the 3-3 draw at St James’ Park. Importantly, Erling Haaland, Kevin De Bruyne, Joao Cancelo and Alke Gundogan all came on instead of starting against Barcelona, so they should be expected to return to the line-up against Palace.
Man City’s predicted line-up: Ederson; Walker, Stone, Dias, Cancelo; Rudy, Gundogan, De Bruyne; Mahrez, Holland, Foden
Fact: Chelsea v Leicester, Saturday 27th August, 3pm
Chelsea team news: Kalidou Koulibaly is suspended following last weekend’s disappointing 3-0 defeat at Leeds, while Chelsea are without N’Golo Kante and Mateo Kovacic through injury. Mark Cuccorella could drop into the back three and Ben Chilwell comes in at wing-back, and on the other side Thomas Tuchel could recall Cesar Azpilicueta and move Reece James up. It wouldn’t be a surprise to see more changes but Tuchel doesn’t look too happy with his options as he moves for Anthony Gordon and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
Chelsea’s predicted line-up: Mendy; Azplicueta, Silva, Cucurella; James, Loftus-Cheek, Jorginho, Chilwell; Mt., Howertz, Stirling
Fact: Arsenal v Fulham, Saturday 27th August, 5.30pm
Arsenal team news: Mikel Arteta’s side comes into the week at the top of the table with three wins and has named the same starting team in every match so far. Had it not been for Wednesday’s match against Aston Villa, there would have been a good chance it would have continued. Arteta has a fully fit squad and plenty of options if he decides to make changes, with Emile Smith-Roe and Takehiro Tomiyasu most likely to arrive.
Weapons Predicted Lineup: Ramsdale; Tomiyasu, Saliba, Gabriel, Zinchenko; Party, Zaka; Martinelli, Odegaard, Sacca; Jesus
Fact: Nottingham Forest v Tottenham, Sunday 28 August, 4.30 pm
Spurs team news: Ivan Perisic was a man of the match on his full debut in last weekend’s 1-0 win over Wolves and looks set to retain his place on the left wing, while Heung-min Son’s slow start to the season has led Antonio Conte to push for Richarlison to make his debut. Cristian Romero is out but Davinson Sanchez has impressed as his replacement, while Oliver Skipp is close to returning.
Spurs’ predicted line-up: Lloris; Sanchez, Dyer, Davies; Emerson, Hojbjerg, Bentenker, Perisic; Klosowski, Ken, son
