Uruguay World Cup squad 2022: All players for national team in Qatar

Uruguay World Cup squad 2022: Heading into their 14th World Cup tournament in the country’s history, Uruguay is once again the dark horse of the World Cup. It’s what you’d expect from a country that has won the tournament in the past — La Celeste were champions in two of the first four World Cups — and made it to the semifinals in 2010.

But what matters most in Qatar is the talent that will be on the field. Luis Suarez, Edinson Cavani, and Diego Godin are in their late 30s but will be hoping for one last magical run. It could also turn into a tournament where the next generation of stars will take over.

Federico Valverde, recently named the third best player in the world, and Liverpool’s scoring sensation Darwin Nunez, along with FC Barcelona’s defensive force Ronald Araujo, should they recover from injury in time, will be at the World Cup stage. are ready for Bright MLS forward Facundo Torres could have a breakout tournament amid rumors of European interest, and he has one of the world’s top midfielders in Real Madrid star Federico Valverde.

La Celeste always seems to find a way, including during a recent World Cup qualifier when things looked dire and legendary manager Oscar Washington Tabriz was sacked. They made it to the end, and are one of the favorites to advance from Group H in Qatar. And if the Uruguayans and their characteristic fight and guts — known as the Gara Charroa — enter the knockout stages, anything can happen.

Uruguay 26-man World Cup Squad 2022

New manager Diego Alonso, who took over in January, announced a maximum 55-man extended starting squad at the deadline on Friday, October 21, when provisional squads of 35-55 players were due to arrive.

It is from this list of 55 that he has selected the final roster for Qatar on 10 November, with the full 26 players selected for the 2022 World Cup squad.

Ronald Araujo and Edinson Cavani both recover from injury in time, while Facundo Torres, who plays for MLS side Orlando City, has been named on the list.

There was no place in midfield for Felipe Carballo despite being excellent domestically for Nacional, while Espanyol captain Leandro Cabrera was unable to earn his first international cap.
